Hi all
For a number of years our company has been shipping APC SUA1000RMI2U UPSes
as part of our products. Monitoring of the UPS is via serial. We have now
been informed by our supplier that they cannot obtain these UPSes any more.
They have suggested the SMT1000RMI2U as a replacement. However, I recall
that the SMT series were tangled up with their proprietary serial protocol a
few years back. Since then APC have introduced their modbus protocol and I
am aware that recent versions of apcupsd support this.
I recall reading somewhere in the past that not all the SMT UPSes can have
their firmware upgraded post-sale to support modbus. Does anyone know
whether SMT1000RMI2U supports field upgrades to include modbus support? In
addition, is it known which firmware version introduced the modbus support
on the SMT1000RMI2U (knowing this would allow us to avoid upgrading UPS
firmware needlessly).
Regards
